Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964 was a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is also the first female vice-president and the highest ranking female official in the United America. A member of the Democratic Party, she has previously served as attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017, and as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then she was recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she became the San Francisco district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and legalization of cannabis, a path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. The attention of the nation was drawn by her sharp examination of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
